With the release of their self titled EP, Dylan Daniels as Baby D is a genderqueer singer-songwriter on a mission to brings a new feel to the classic genre of rock and roll. A dynamic vocal presence, paired with a punk attitude, carries the record toward the aesthetic of alt rock anthems. The songs are stylistically diverse but complimentary through the cohesive sound of the band.
The first single, “Not Your Fantasy” is an instant alt punk classic. Complete with high energy breakdowns, a heavy chorus, and a genuine 70’s punk style, the song breathes and builds as it plays on.
“The song is about the struggle to be taken seriously as an artist in a straight cis male dominated industry, not compromising for others expectations, and just wanting the same respect any other guy would get. It’s an anthem and it gives a glimpse of what you're getting into with the rest of the album” explains Baby D of their single.
Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where Baby D is coming from, the record should be heard in its entirety.
“The EP has been an evolution for me in my songwriting. I wanted to explore my vulnerabilities and dig a little deeper, but still try and have fun with it and not take myself too seriously. I think the music reflects that .”
The name Baby D was born out of Daniels' alter ego in their band Th’ Rattletrap from Sioux Falls, SD. The band started in 2013 and is still going strong, but finding an individual sound became an important new undertaking for Baby D, and the EP was born. The debut self titled release is Baby D (Dylan Daniels), Phil Thoendel, and Sasa Damjanovic.
The Baby D EP is now available for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets. The current touring/gigging lineup is Baby D (Dylan Daniels) - (guitar/vox), Neil Stache (lead guitar), Ally King (Bass/vox), and Dylan Olson (Drums).
